Eyebrow Threading July 2, 2009

I promised Ellie I would post all about getting my eyebrows threaded yesterday. It’s going to be short and sweet, because…well, the entire experience was short, though I wouldn’t call it sweet.

For those who have absolutely no clue what eyebrow threading is…here, educate yourselves.  There is a really good clip from a local evening news on YouTube here.

They just added a new eyebrow threading kiosk at a local mall and I have been itching to try it out ever since I saw it on TV a few years ago. I usually get my thick brunette brows waxed and have had consistantly bad results, so I was game for anything that might give me better results. I have had all of the following happen with waxing…severe post-wax redness every single time, ultra-thin and completely unnatural-looking brows despite liberal use of the word “natural” and I’ve even had skin ripped off and wax burns. That definitely explains my Au Naturale look lately, right?

So, I stopped by the kiosk on my way out of the mall after a hair cut and thoroughly explained my definition of “natural” much to the annoyance of the threading girl. I knew it wouldn’t be pain-free since I had purposefully questioned people in her chair on my last couple visits to the mall with my daughter, but I thought it might be less painful than waxing. I wouldn’t say it was less painful, but that may have been the threader…threadist? Anyway, I was done in a minute flat and I am very happy with the results! It’s not harmful to skin and I had minimal redness. There wasn’t any sticky wax residue. Best of all, it was very precise and looks very natural. I definitely recommend giving it a try. I’m sure it’s not for everyone, but I will never go back to waxing.

Interesting – I had never heard of threading so I read the article and watched the clip. I think I’m going to try it out. I’m an at-home plucker myself, but I never really keep up as well as I’d like to. I hate waxing because it irritates my skin. Thanks for the information.

I hate to pluck & I noticed these threading places all over. I just haven’t been gutsy enough to try it out! Now, I am just gonna have to check it out! :) Thanks!
