These just sound sooo yummy! I can’t remember the website I found these on so if you know where it came from- please let me know!!!

Peanut Butter Balls

1/2 cup  dry milk

1/4 cup  peanut butter

1/4 cup  honey

1/4 cup  oats (quick or old fashioned)

1/4 cup  crisp rice cereal

Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
Using your clean hands, shape the dough into 1 inch/2 cm balls.

Put another 1/2 cup/125 mL crisp rice cereal into a ziplock bag. Crush the cereal with your hands.

Place the balls, a few at a time, in the bag. Shake until the balls are covered with cereal.

Eat immediately, or store in a covered container in the refrigerator.

Product Review: L’Oreal Lash Serum February 8, 2010

I recently had the chance (thanks to being a BzzAgent!) to try L’Oreal’s Lash Serum & Lash Boosting Mascara. I have to say I was pretty leery at first. I don’t really care too incredibly much about makeup & such. For me, makeup is a “fun” thing & not an “absolutely won’t let anyone see me without it” kind of thing.  (Thanks, Mom, for teaching me that real beauty is inside!)

The big thing that drew me in to participating in this BzzCampaign was that it claimed to reduce the amount of lash-fallout. I’ve recently noticed (**cough cough getting older cough**) that I have quite a few lashes on the washcloth when I wash off my face at the end of the day. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but someone once told me that it takes longer for lashes to grow back than other hair (according to various googled site- it takes them about 8 weeks to grow back) so this was worrying me slightly! I like my lashes!

I was actually very impressed with L’Oreal’s Lash Serum. I notice that my lashes appear a little fuller (I already had fairly full lashes so it’s not easy to notice any difference, but I do!) and most of all I no longer have lots of fallen out lashes when I wash my face. It’s very easy to operate the Lash Serum. I was able to try 2 different products with it in them. One product had both the lash serum/primer and a mascara. I wasn’t very impressed with this item. I liked the primer, but the mascara tended to clump my lashes quite a bit. I tended to put the primer on & then use a different mascara. My favorite product that I tried was just the Lash Serum. It was very easy to apply & I could use it day or night! Here are the before & after pictures from my trial of it! I’ve still got a couple weeks to go, but this is the 1/2 point pics!

I Fixed It By Breaking It February 8, 2010

My poor laptop. I really did fix it by breaking it. I kept wondering if there was something underneath the “Shift” key even though I couldn’t get anything to come out with canned air. I was trying to lift up on the left shift key to see if something was under there when POP! IT came right off! Oops! Well, there’s no putting it back on now, but apparently there was something there because my laptop works fine now!

There is one downside. Have you ever tried to use the right shift key? Yeah, it’s awkward. I’m just glad that I happened to break one of the few keys that there are 2 of! lol

Are You Ready for Some Football? February 7, 2010

I happen to love football so I’m very excited about tomorrow! Instead of having an evening service at church, we all get together & watch the big game! It’s a great time of fellowship & of course, football! This year is kind of mellow for us. In other words, we aren’t doing crazy things to get people revved up. (Three years ago, we had people dress up as some football-related. I was pregnant so I wore a shirt that said “Outside linebacker” on the chest & then had “Inside linebacker” and an arrow pointing to my belly! lol)

This year, we are just decorating the fellowship hall (we do alternate tables- one table in black & yellow streamers and the next one in blue & white). That way everyone can pick a table to show who they are rooting for! I’m also making brown foam football coasters to put all over. Other than that, we’re just going to print off a bunch of free football pages from the internet. I wish I had some links for you guys, but since I’m using the DPH’s laptop to type this- I have none of my links! (And he keeps asking for the laptop back so I’m trying to hurry!)

Anyways, have fun tomorrow & enjoy the game!

It’s Heather’s Show for a Bit February 5, 2010

It looks like it might be Heather’s show around here for a little bit! My laptop is…rejecting me. Yeah. You’ll be able to tell if it’s me posting because it will either be in all caps or have no caps. (I’m borrowing the DPH’s right now.) Somehow my comp thinks that the shift key is stuck. It’s not. It could be the fact that it’s 4 years old & I torture the poor thing. Or that about 6 months ago I spilled water all over the keyboard. Or that apparently my motherboard is going out on it (as evidenced by it’s earlier antic I like to refer to as “the death of the USB ports”. Yeah. As I said, it’s rejecting me slowly. I think it knows I’m addicted. Anyhow, I’ll be here whenever I can (aka whenever I can convince the DPH that he really should play some more Mass Effect 2) (which isn’t hard), but until then- take it away, Heather!

Smart Sweepstakes Tips February 4, 2010

A couple years ago, I entered an online contest and promptly forgot about it…until I got a call that I had won the Grand Prize! Since then, I’ve been entering more Contests, Sweepstakes and Giveaways, because you can’t win if you don’t enter, right? Here are some things I’ve learned over the past few months, that I would like to pass on to you:

1. First and Foremost, it should never cost you anything to enter a contest! If you find a contest that’s requiring you to buy something or give payment information of any kind, RUN AWAY…fast! It’s called fraud, people.

2. There are plenty of websites listing online contests that can save you a lot of time and energy from searching. My favorite is OnlineSweepstakes.com, where they have extensive lists, sorted just about any way you could think of.

3. Always, Always, ALWAYS…read the rules and regulations!

You will find a wealth of information that will save you trouble later or even help you win. Some things I’ve recently learned from reading rules and regulations: Trip prizes often do not include transportation or the transportation is from a specific location. For example, a trip to the Grand Canyon could include airfare only from Los Angeles or none at all. From my home on the east coast, that round trip flight to LA for a family of four adds thousands of dollars, that I may or may not be able to afford.

Another thing I found when reading the rules of a new sweepstakes…the number, frequency and types of entries vary in almost every new contest. Yesterday, I realized that I could enter a particular new Sweepstakes up to 20 times per day: 10 online entries and 10 text enteries! The moral of this one, is just to be aware of the rules, so you don’t get burned.

4. Magazines, anyone? I can’t tell you how many times I had to cancel unwanted magazine subscriptions before I realized that I needed to pay much more attention to the entry forms I fill out. All those boxes they’ve pre-checked at the bottom of the form mean something! Clicking the ENTER button is the electronic equivalent of your signature, so make sure you know what you’re agreeing to! Sweepstakes are nothing more than an advertising tool, trying to increase website hits or newsletter or magazine subscriptions. If you don’t want to be contacted by email (and possibly mail and phone!) by a particular company and all it’s corporate sponsors…unclick that box!

5. Just have fun! Let’s just be honest…odds are you’re not going to win a huge, life-changing prize. But, if you keep entering, you may win some cool stuff or a fun experience. If you look at it from that perspective, it’s a pretty rewarding hobby. And hey, someone has to win that million dollars, right?

Homemade Children’s Valentines February 3, 2010

Guppy Love

It’s almost Valentine’s Day! Where has the time gone!?! I was at the store yesterday browsing through those premade boxes of kid’s valentines and I was really disappointed. Even at a huge store like Walmart, it was slim pickins. They probably had 8 choices-4 for boys, 4 for girls. Out of those, 1 was too immature for my 6 year old (yep) and 1 was for older girls. I didn’t want to buy my daughter one of the same 2 kinds that all the other girls in her class will hand out. So, I went searching and found out that Family Fun Magazine has pages and pages of cool ideas for homemade Valentine cards! Check these out!

Easy Delicious Dessert Recipe-Pineapple “Dump” Cake February 3, 2010

My 6 year old and I made this dessert last night and I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing myself-it was THAT good! It is incredibly simple, so it is practically impossible to screw it up and for my frugal friends out there, it’s fairly thrifty.

Pineapple “Dump” Cake

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Cooking Time: 50 mins.

Serves 6

1 Box Yellow Cake Mix

1-20oz can of Pineapple Slices, drained

4 cups Cinnamon Applesauce, divided in half

Pumpkin Pie Spice (to taste) (or cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg)

1 cup Chopped Walnuts or Pecans (optional)

1. Spray a 9″x13″ baking pan w/ cooking spray.

2. Line the bottom of the pan with Pineapple Slices.

3. Dump 2 cups of Applesauce over the Pineapple.

4. Sprinkle Pumpkin Pie Spice evenly over the Applesauce to taste.

5. Dump the dry box of Yellow Cake Mix evenly over the Applesauce.

6. Cover all of the Yellow Cake Mix w/ 2 cups of Applesauce.

7. Sprinkle w/ Chopped Walnuts or Pecans, optional.

8. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 mins or until cake is bubbling.

9. Remove from oven and allow to cool before serving.

Serve with Vanilla Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt.
